Travel day

wt. 250.2

no walk

I got up early to travel for business. I showered, drank one of the Mrs. smoothies, and hit the road. The Mrs. was kind enough to pack me a nice cooler of fruit, along with some filbert nuts. She sure makes dieting easier. On a day like this, it would of been real easy to have had a meal in a drive thru. She didn't want that to happen. Thank you Mrs.!

I was in a convention center for lots of the day, and it was freezing cold in it. I went to the concession stand to get a water, and saw someone walk by with a brat, garnished with hot peppers. I couldn't resist. No, I didn't get a brat, but I did scarf down 5 of the hot peppers trhough the day. I know they arn't raw, but I had some anyway. If that is the worst I ever do, I am going to be skinny!

Another Day

wt 254

walked 20 min, 2 mi on treadmill

Today was a typical day of late. Morning walk, fruit smoothie for breakfast, variety of fruits and veggies for lunch, and a GREAT fruit plate for dinner. The Mrs. fixed my watermelon, cantelope, pineapple, peaches, and strawberries for supper. We got home from a hot night at a nephews ballgame, and that fruit really hit the spot. I should have a good weigh in tomorrow, as she cut my hair, and that should be good for a .001 pound loss!

WEEK ONE-- 18 LBS

wt 254.6

I didn't walk today, as I had walked 3 days in a row. If I was farther along I would have, but after just one week, I don't want to push it. Today was my one week weigh in, and it went pretty good, perhaps too good. I figured I wuld lose 10 pounds the first week, and hoped for 7 the second. So my 18.2 lbs took care of my first 2 weeks. That sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. By going mostly raw, I have eliminated tons of salt. So I expected to lose 6-8 pounds just by not retaining so much water. And how shall I say it, I expected to lose a few lbs of "bulk" from my intestines too. The last time i went mostly raw, I lost 53 lbs in 70 days. Unfortunately, I put it all back on when I went back to my old habits. I say mostly raw, because I will have some decaf tea. I will have some wasabi and soy sauce when I have raw fish. And I will put some spices(red pepper, black pepper, curry, etc.)on my melons, or in my salad dressing. So this means I am not officially 100% raw. Oh well! It's my life, my diet. so call it whatever you want. I know this isn't a diet I can be on forever. But I know I will drop weight fast when I am on it. Last time I did this, I got down to 200. And I maintain, that it doesn't matter how I get to 200. If I diet slowly, and lose one lb a week, or do this, It doesn't matter. What matters is what I do after I hit 200. Hopefully this time, When i get to 200, I will eat sensibly, not just gorge myself. Enough about that.

Todays food was typical of the last week. A smoothie for breakfast, and an assortment of fruits and veggies for lunch and supper. Tonight though, I had 2 glasses of decaf lemonade, with a half a lemon and tablespoon of honey in each glass. I also had a good sized handfull of filbert nuts. hopefully I got a few more calories in me today. I hope to not lose nearly as much this week.

wt. 256.0

walked 52 min, 2.5 miles

Today I was going to really try to consume more calories. That is an unusual statement for someone trying to lose weight. That is one good thing about going raw. My challenge is not trying to eat less, but trying to eat enough. I think if someone only eats raw food, it is nearly impossible to not lose weight, at least for someone my size. Maybe if I weighed 120, it would be a little different. And all of my food is truly nutient dense food.
I woke up again at 4am. I immediatley ate a banana and a nice sized bowl of the tart cherries I got at the farmers market yesterday. I then watched a little tv and read, and went back to bed at 6:15. I actually slept some more, and got up at 9am. The Mrs. made me a great fruit smoothie, consisting of spinach, mango, banana, apple, orange, and blueberries. Then the Mrs, and our visiting offspring went to visit my mom, and we walked on a trail for my walk. It sure was better having company for my walk. We then came home, and I putzed outside for an hour or so. Then another offspring came, along with a new friend that we met for the first time(they passed our inspection}. Everyone sat down for dinner, and ate beef stir fry, rice, fried avocado, and mango sticky rice. Everyone but me, I had some avacodo, and another spinach salad with blueberries, and a small bowl of watermelon.
After everyone left, I had two handfulls of raw pumkin seeds, and two stalks of celery with raw almond butter, and a few mor cherries. It's 8:15 now, and I may graze a little more before going to bed. Tomorrow is my first one week weigh in. It will be a good one.

Idiot at the farmers market!

wt. 256.2

walked 42 min
weighed 2.05

I am losing weight faster than I really want to, and have been feeling very tired. I am sure quitting caffeine has contributed to the tiredness. Today I woke up at 4am, and I ate a banana and an apricot. Around 5:30, I went back to bed. Upon arising again at 7am, I went downstairs and walked on the treadmill. I strongly prefer walking outside, but today this was a little easier. After a shower,I had another banana, blueberries, and some cherries. Then I left for the office.
A visitng offspring and I stopped at the farmers market, and got some cherry tomatoes, scallions, kahlrabi, yellow tomatoes, and four citronnela plants. Then a quick stop at the health foof store to get raw honey and olive oil. The offspring and I loved the cherry tomatoes, and after an hour they were nearly gone. So alone this time, I walked back to the farmers market. I saw some great looking grape tomatoes and got those. About halfway back to the office, I gave in to my urges, and started eating them. I popped one in, and nearly broke a tooth on it. Same thing on the second one. And they tasted odd too! I turned around, and went back to the booth I had purchased them from. I waited until his booth was empty, and I held up my bag, and said "what are these that I just bought?" He looked at my like I was stupid, and said "tart cherries". I replied, "oh, well they are very good, I just thought I was getting grape tomatoes". I thanked him again, and walked away. All the other booths were out of the cherry tomatoes by then, so off I went.
Lunch was a banana, an orange, and I finally finished off the bag of cherries I had at the office. We had friends over for dinner, and while they all had filet for dinner, I nibbled on my spinach salad. I lost that one! I teied the salad dressing recipe I had read online. I put a equal parts of olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon juice in a little bowl. I added a little honey, a dried cayenne pepper, some fresh ginger, and some curry powder to it. It was kinda bland, but it at least made the spinach edible. I added blueberries and strawberries to my spinach salad which perked it up a little. Still, the filet looked much better. Our friends 8 month old boy was so fun, and seeing him for a few hours made the lack of filet more bearable.

Another day

wt. 258.6

walked 40 min, 2 miles

It was kinda misty this morning, so I just walked indoors. Our office is in a large building, and I just did laps there in the hallways ond open spaces. Not very exciting, but it was dry! I had a banana and an apricot for breakfast while driving in. You would never guess it by my diet, but I really don't like bananas. In fact, I am slightly allergic to them. I have to eat something else immediately after eating one, or my mouth itches really bad, and my throat gets irritated. But they are so easy to eat, and not messy, that they are just pefect for grabbing and going.
Lunch was the usual sliced red and yellow peppers, celery, and blueberries and cherries. I went to the chiropracter for my lower back this afternoon. It feels twisted, and my hips feel bad. He could only get me to crack on one side. He said I need to come back a few more times to get straightened out. The Mrs., my visiting offspring, and mother-in-law went to my neices play tonight. So before the play we stopped at Wendys to meet my brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. I sat in the car with my lunch leftovers, and had them for supper, while they all enjoyed Wendys. The price I pay to regain my figure! The play was ok, and of course, she was exceptional!
Upon getting home, I was really tired. So I quickly showered, and crawled to bed.

wt. 262.0

no walk

I did not walk today, as was planned. My sore foot feels a little better. I hope to walk outside tomorrow morning. There is a chance of rain, so we will see. I had a banana, an apricot, and cherries for breakfast. A banana, red and yellow pepper slices, cherries, and blueberries for lunch. I then had a pretty good apple for a afternoon snack. We stopped and visited my mom in the rehab, and stopped by and saw a few innings of a nephew's baseball game. It's 8:30 now, and I am too tired to fix anything, so I think I will just shower and go to bed. What an exciting life!

another good day

wt 265.8

walked 42 min, 2.1 miles

I had to drive the Mrs. to a dr. appointment today. So I used the waiting time for my walk. It worked out well. On the drive over, I once again had cherries, blueberries, ans a banana. Lunch was another fruit bowl from the grocery. After work, I had an apple, while visiting with the Mrs. and my mother. I was starved when I got home. I had a large plate of peaches, watermelon, cantelope, and strawberries. I also had a little red and yellow pepper. It was all good, but the peaches were the highlight. I am hoping to have a fruit smoothie wuth spinach in the morning, and a spinach salad for dinner tomorrow. I know I need to get some greens in my diet. I found a salad dressing online that I hope to try. It is 4 Tblsp of raw olive oil, 2Tblsp of lemon juice, 1/2 tsp of maple syrup, and a little salt. That is supposed to be a raw recipe, but I think the syrup kinda blows it. I could substitute raw agave for it. Also, could add cayenne pepper, or ginger zest for a little variety. I hope it tastes as good as it sounds. Healthy salad dressings have always been a problem for me.

Dinner was good, but the Mrs. grilled hamburger looked much better. As is normal for me, since I have been dieting, I have been watching lots of cooking shows . Go figure. I am not going to walk tomorrow. I have for 3 days in a row, so I am going to rest for a day. My left foot has an ache in it, and hopefully a day off will help it feel better.

So far, so good

wt. 268.4

walked 2.0 miles, 40 min

As todays title says, so far, so good. I once again got up early and drove to town to walk. While driving, I ate my breakfast of one banana, and a handful of cherries and blueberries. My walk was a little easier than yesterday. I had a morning snack of a delicious peach. It was nice and ripe, bursting with flavor and juice. A banana and cherries and blueberries were my lunch (sounds a lot like breakfast).

Dinner was a few stalks of celery, dipped in the mrs's homemade pico de giao (spelled wrong I'm sure). That was followed by a large plate of watermellon and cantelope. It was very good, and satisfying. I had a small spoon of raw organic almond butter, and it DID NOT hit the spot.

I also should mention that I had a horrible headache today, starting about 11:00 am. I am sure it was from caffeine withdrawal, as I havn't had any coffee or coke since Sunday. I took 2 tylenol, and had half a can of diet coke, and it went away. I will probably have a third of a can tomorrow, if I get another headache.

I need to get my bike cleaned up. If it was clean and ready, I think I would of had enough energy to have road it tonight. Maybe some night I will have the energy to get it ready.

STARTING OVER

wt 272.8

walked 40 min, 2 miles

I am going to once again, attempt to get serious about losing weight. Today went pretty good. I woke up, drove to town, and then walked 2 miles. It sure is handy having a shower at work! I didn't have any breakfast, as I woke up still stuffed from the weekend. I had a large cup of fruit for lunch, premade at the local grocery. It was quite tasty, and consisted of watermelon, honeydew, pineapple, grapes, cantelope, and strawberries.

Around 1:00 pm I started chilling, and felt flu like. So, for supper, I had 2 bowls of chicken soup, and some fresh strawberries and peaches. I kinda ached all night, but didn't really get sick. I went to bed at 8:30, got up at 9:30, and watched tv until midnight. Watching the the cubs thump the white sox made me feel a little better.

It was a pretty good start to a new attempt. I went back and deleted all of my old blogs, except for my first one, and for Jan 1 of this year. I kept those because they showed my weight on both those days. I deleted the others, because they had no relevance to this new attempt. They were sporadic anyway, and now they are gone.
