Bad, Bad Boy

wt 236.0

33.1 %bodyfat

30.6 bmi

It's been a rough ten days. Ten days ago I weighed in at 223.0. So I have gained 13 lbs in ten days. Needless to say, I have been eating like a pig. I was in Chicago for 6 days, and I enjoyed many of their fine dining establishments. I also consumed lots of pepsi, sloppy joes, and snacks at the convention center. Hopefully I can get out of this funk, and start eating better, maybe even today.

My lef foot is still bothering me. I did miles of walking last week, on hard cement at a convention. So maybe in a few days, it will clear up. I didn't go back to check, but it must be a month or so since I have walked. We will soon be having dark, chilly mornings, and thats gonna stink!

rolling along

wt 226.4

Everything is going well. Just like last week, the weight is melting off since my cooked food weekend. I am rapidly approaching 50 lbs lost since I restarted my diet, and have lost 54 lbs since my jan 1 weight. I had a typical grren smoothie for breakfast. It consisted of 1 banana, an apple, and a handfull of blueberries, along with swiss chard, kelp, spinach, and a few pieces of parsley. I really pack the greens in the blender, and let the blender chew them up very well. It is hard to believe, but I am starting to really crave them. I pretty much have a full blender, and drink one or two glasses for breakfast, and take a big bottle to work that I drink through the day.

I got a new pair of shoes last night, that will hopefully make my foot feel better. They are from new balance, and they were recommended on some site I found online. It is too early to tell, but I think my foot feels better. I am really anxious to start biking and riding again.

Nexrt week will be a challenge for my diet. I leave Monday morning for Chicago for business, and get home saturday night. I don't know how I can stay raw there. I won't have time to go to groceries, and I can't take a week of stuff with me. My hotel has a breakfast buffet with lots of fresh fruit, so at least I can start the day well. I may have to suffer through some great steaks, great sushi, and maybe even some great indian food. Those all sound good, but I really would rather stay with the program. However, If I must go off, I might as well enjoy it!

7 week weigh in--- 42.2 lbs lost

wt 230.6
35.4% bodyfat
29.9 BMI

I ate cooked food friday night, and all through the weekend. I did it because I was losing weight way too fast. One day last week I think I had lost 45.8 lbs in 46 days, Tha t is just too fast. One day i tried to really eat a lot, and when I figured it, I was around 1200 calories. So in an effort to have more energy, I ate cooked food, so I could consume more calories. I felt kinda gorged and "burby" all weekend. I had an upset stomach, and kept wondering if I was going to vomit. Maybe I should try to be raw all the time, except maybe have a cooked meal 3 evenings a week or so. Maybe then I wouldn'y feel so porked out like I do after a cooked weekend.

I went and bought a pair of skechers walking shoes tonight, the ones with the rounded bottoms. I am hoping maybe they will help my foot to quit hurting. I really miss my walking, but i know I shouldn't walk till I am pain free again. i am going to try them at the office for a few days on carpet. Then I can take them back if I'm not happy. I ws really lookinf for normal shoes, but couldn't find any.

I have been raw all day again, and my insides are feeling much better tonight.

Nothing new

Wt 231.4

no walk

Todays weight loss surprised me. Food wise, it was another good day. A green smoothie for breakfast, a green smoothie, watermelon, and a banana for lunch, and a bowl of broccoli and cauliflower, and a peach and necterine for supper.

My foot hurt again, and as usual, the pain did get worst as the day went on.

New Low

wt 234.0

I woke up at 4am and got up and read for 2 hours. Then I was freezing, so I went and snuggled next to the Mrs. to get warm. I got up for good at 6:30, showered, and made a green smoothie. It rally hit the spot. Lunch was some leftover smoothie, watermelon, a banana, and some blueberries. Dinner was some cucumber and onions that had sat in vinegor, some cantelope, and a few filbert nuts. I have to admit, I am kind of unsatisfied, and I am sure I didn't get enough calories today. I checked the spinach container, and it had only 100 calories in it, and I havn't used it up yet. So I am pretty confident today was under 1000 calories, and that just isn't enough.

The Mrs. made an appointment for me with a foot specialist on friday. I am really missing walking and riding the bike. I'm pretty sure that it is tendonitis, and not plantar fascitis, or a srtess fracture. Hopefully I will find something out. My fear is she is going to want to give me a shot of cortisone. I have had them before, and am leary of them. I have heard of lingering problems if they are not located just right. Maybe I am putting the cart before the horse.

By the way, today was my lowest weight yet, which surprised me after my four day extravaganza. Although truth be told, none of those days were close to what I used to normally eat. I am so ready to step ont the scale and see 229!

Back to RAW

wt 237.6 37.45 bodyfat

no walk

I havn't blogged for several days, so i need to give a quick review. Wed thru sun were spent eating great cooked food. The first 5 days, I was in St. Louis with the mrs., and we ate very well. Then sat and sun were home with all the offspring, celebrating the mrs. birthday. We had our first ever shrimp boil for lunch on sat, and it was fantastic. Then for supper, 2 of the offspring made chicken wings, and the other one and a friend made a great homemade cake. Sunday was homemade egg mcmuffins, and then lunh out. Supper was tons of leftovers.

I only gained 3.4 pounds through all that, which really surprised me. I had to buy a new scale yesterday, and you will notice i am now posting my % bodyfat too. I am sure it is not real accurate, but it will give an idea of it. I actually was looking forward to getting back to raw. I know it sounds wierd, but while eating the cooked food, I could stuff myself, and be full, but never really feel satisfied. When raw, I usually quit eating long before feeling stuffed, and usually felt satisfied. Thats not to say I didn't crave a cookie or something while raw, but not near like I did while eating cooked.

Todays breakfast was a smoothie made of several handfuls of spinach, a little cilantro, and a handfull of blueberries. I put that in the blender along with a large glass of water, and 8 or so ice cubes. I had half of that for breakfast, and the other half right when I got home. Around 3pm i started really craving my second glass. (weird). Lunch was a banana and a small bowl of mixed fruit. Dinner was the glass of greens, and about 1/4 of a honeydew melon. I hope to make enough spinach smoothie tomorrow to have some to take for lunch too.

I still am not walking, as my left foot just isn't getting any better. I may break down and go to the Dr. (YUCH).

one month--- 34.8 lbs lost

wt 238

am walk 72 min, 4.38 miles

Just found out I have tendonitis in the bottom of my left foot. I am not supposed to walk until at least Monday. I guess I am going to not walk, as I really want this to heal up. It kind of takes the joy out of a succesful first month. I am going to have to stick to the diet, and not let this be a major setback.

Tuesday, July 19, 2011

wt 237.4

am walk 60 min, 3.15 miles

Good day food wise. I am getting ready for a bad meal in a week. Next week I am going to St Louis on business, and I am taking the Mrs with me, which is very unusual. We are going to a great italian place in the hill district. It is called Cunetto's and it is fantastic, I am getting the house salad, and the Tortellini alla bolognese. I know it is way off the raw diet, but I don't care. I am going to get it, I am going to eat it, and I am going to LIKE it.

4 weeks-- 33.8 lbs lost

wt 239.0

pm walk 67 min, 3.67 miles

pm ride 40 min, 6.38 miles

I have been a little frustrated with the last week or so's weight loss. But I just looked back, and I see where I did lose 4.2 lbs last week, which is about perfect for where I am in the program now. I guess I need more patience.

I once again overslept this morning. And once again, I was up during the night. I don't know what to do, short of getting a new sleep apnea machine. And I don't want to spend the money on that. I think that once I hit 200 lbs, I won't need it anymore. it's just going to make getting there a little more difficult. I am trying to eat more, and that will help with the energy. I really should be walking in the morning. and riding at night. The weight peels off when I exercise twice a day. Hopefully, I will get on it!

After work, the Mrs. and i walked in horrible heat. It was 96 degrees, and 110 on the heat index. walked 30 or so minutes before she was ready, cause I knew she wouldn't want to be out too much. When I got home, I left right away for my bike ride, and it was pleasant. The wind made it much cooler. I actually made myself stop after 40 minutes, but felt like riding more. It was a good day!

Lazy Day

wt 239.8

no walk/no ride

I was pooped all day today. I have been struggling with my sleep apnea machine, and have not used it for a week or so. The air pressure won't regulate right. As a result, my sleep has been horrible. As has been the norm lately, I went to bed, and got up around 3 for a few hours. Then aroun 5 I go back to sllep. This morning, I slept to 8:30, which made it too late to walk. We went to a niece's bday party, then stopped by my mom's to do a few odd jobs, and fixed dinner and watched a movie. We left her about 5:30, and the thermometer registered 96. When we got home I started the sprinklers, and stayed inside. Hopefully I will have some energy tomorrow.

Hot, Hot, Hot

Wt 240

Walked 81 min, 4.5 miles

I had another of the mrs delicious smoothies to start the day. The we headed off to the local trail, where she rode her bike, and I got my walk in. Then we came home, where we did odd jobs outside for a couple hours. It was hot! Hot eough to where it slowed down working outside.

We then got cleaned up, and headed off to a large town an hour away. (note I didn't have any lunch.) We looked around at the bike shop for about half an hour, and then went to grab some food. I had a salad, with red and green pepper, cucumber, tomatoes, and mushrooms. It was topped with rasberry vinegairette dressing. once again, that was cheating, but it was close. We then walked around in unbearable heat at a car show and saw some really cool old cars. I got a bit overheated. I then browsed at the bookstore for 45 min or so, and off to the grocery. It was there where I felt reaal weak after about 5 min. I headed out to the car and laid back. I think the combination of too much sun, and too little food hit me. I really need to try to not miss any more meals! Got home about 9:30. I also need to get on the bike in the evenings!

HELLO 230's

wt 239.2

walked 80 min, 4.3 miles

I got into the 230's this morning for the first time in a long, long while. I'd like to say it felt good, but I'm not sure I feel any different then when I weighed 280. I guess there are 2 differences. I don't pant putting on my shoes, or when I dry off after showering. I didn't have any breakfast today, and didn't eat my strawberries or cherries until 2:30 because of a lunchtime dentist appointment.

I had big plans for a little outdoor work and a nice bike ride after work. Instead, I came home and enjoyed the recliner. And did it ever feel good. I didn't feel too guilty, since I had a good walk this morning. Hopefully tomorrow, I will get in both a walk and a ride, as well as a little work here at home. Shouldn't be too difficult, as I am not going into the office tomorrow or sunday....YAH!!!!

day off

wt 241.0

I have walked 4 days in a row, so i took today off. Another smoothie for breakfast. An orange, some cherries, and some watermelon for lunch. Dinner was a small spinach salad, some sliced cucumber, and a little watermelon for breakfast.

Road bike

wt 241.0

am walked 60 min, 3 miles

pm road 60 min, 10 miles

The highlight of today was my ten mile bike ride. The first part was nearly effortless. SO much easier than my mountain bike. Then I turned around, and figured out that it was so easy because I had the wind at my back. It was a fun ride though, and I am looking forward to my next one.

I had another good food day. Smoothie for breakfast, an orange, mixed melon bowl, a peach, and some cherries for lunch. Dinner was a honeydew melon. then after my bike ride, I had a handful of pumpkin seeds. I am eagerly awaiting weighing in soon and being in the 230's.

flat tire

wt 243.2

pm walk 72 min, 4 miles

I slept in again this morning, and didn't have timr to walk. My wonderful wife did have time to make me another great smoothie. She sure has made this diet bearable for me. Lunch was a baggie of raw asparagus, radishes, green pepper, yellow pepper, carrots and sugar snap peas. When I left work, I had a flat tire. it burgered up the night a little, but not enough to prevent me from walking 4 miles. Dinner was a salad at my moms. I did have to cheat a little, and did have a non-raw salad dressing, 60 calories worth.

I got my road bike back today, and was going to ride it tonight. The tire incident did put a stop to that. All in all, it was a good diet day, and I did my longest walk of the year.

3 weeks-- 29.6 lbs lost !

wt. 243.2

walked 40 min, 2 miles

I overslept this morning, so I only had time for a quick 40 minute walk on the treadmill. Ans after work, it was a miserably humid 93. so I didn't do anything in the evening either. Food wise, I was all raw, and it went well.

My 3 week weigh in went well too. I figured I would lose around 30 pounds the first month, and I basically did that a week early. I figure 4-5 pounds a week after the first month. So if I start that now, I should lose 20-25 pounds in the next 5 weeks, or put another way, I should take of 50-55 pounds in the first 2 months. I still need to try to get more calories in, as I am pretty tired most of the time.

Offspring walk !

Wt 244.6

walked 60 min, 3.0 miles

I got up and had half a honeydew for breakfast, while the Mrs. and my visiting offspring enjoyed eggs and french toast. The one of the offspring and I headed to town for an excellent and chat filled 60 minute walk. We then went to the office for 5 hours of work. I had an apple there. Then we went to my moms, where a visinting sister joined the rest of us for a great dinner. i had a great salad, with my homemade dressing, and a great ear of raw sweetcorn, which really hit the spot. I followed that with a nice plate of watermelon, pineapple, and strawberries.

I had planned on riding my bike when I got home at 7:3o, but was just too lazy. My roadbike is getting new tubes and a tune up. I may wait to ride again till I get it back. Tomorrow is my 3 week weigh in.

Saturday, July 9, 2011

Movie night

wt. 245.4

I didn't walk today. I have walked 3 or 4 days in a row, so I took the day off. Went to the office at 9, and worked til 4:30. Did take some time off to drive my mom home from the rehab place. Now that she is home, my evenings should be a little easier.

I had another great smoothie for breakfast, and some honeydew for lunch. When I left work, the mrs., and 2 offspring left to meet a nephew and his girlfriend for pizza. Once again, I was only a spectator. That was fun! Then we all left to see "Horrible Boss". It was pretty raunchy, and not as funny as it should of been. After that we went to RED MANGO. That is a frozen yogurt place, wher you serve yourself frozen yogurt, and then put various toppings on it. You pay by the weight. I fixed myself a nice big bowl of blueberries, mangos, rasberries, blackberries, and kiwi. I DID NOT have any frozen yogurt underneath it. I was starved, and it really hit the spot. Home and in bed by 11:30 (too late for me).

wt 248

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

Two a days

Wt. 249.2

am: 60 min walk, 3 miles

pm: 40 min bike ride, @5 miles

I ate a banana, a peach, and a plum on the way into town. I had a nice 60 min walk there. Lunch was a nice assortment of fruit. When I got home, I went for a nice, hot bike ride. I havn't found my odometer yet, so I had to estimate my mileage. But on my country rodes, that isn't too dificult, with all the roads being a mile or a half mile apart.

Dinner was a broccoli, red onion, red pepper, cauliflower, and cherry tomato salad, with homemade raw italian dressing. It was a very nice change of pace, and really hit the spot.... thanks Mrs.

My first day of excercising twice a day went well. Hopefully I will feel that way tomorrow morning when I wake up.

Day off

Wt. 248.8

no walk

Today I got the weigh in I was expecting Sunday or Monday. I did't walk today, and it felt good to be lazy in the morning. The Mrs. made me a great smoothie for breakfast, as well as she cut up some veggies for lunch. I also had a nice bag of cherries for lunch. Dinner was a whole honeydew. I was going to stop at half of it, but it was so good, I just kept right on going.

Monday, July 4, 2011

2 week weigh in, 21.8 lbs

wt. 251.0

walked 60 min, 3 miles

I was disappointed in todays two week weigh in. The two week weigh in wasn't bad, but the last week was actually less than 3 pounds. I know that after 18 ponds the first week, I was going to level off, but the last 3 days have not been good to me on the scale. The walking has been going good. I will not walk tomorrow, as I have been 4 days in a row now.

Diet wise, today was good. I had a smoothie for breakfast, and a plum and 12 raw almonds for lunch. Dinner was 1/2 of a very mediocre cantelope. I am glad this miserable 3 day weekend is over. I am very tired of watching everyone else chowing down on great meals, and me not joining in.

Sunday, July 3, 2011

Back on track

wt. 252.6

walked 60 min, 3.0 miles

I was very surprised by todays weigh in. I gained a half pound since yesterday, and 2 1/2 pounds in 3 days. Maybe there was a bunch of salt in yesterday's dill pickle. Whatever the case, I need to get back to totally raw. I am not worried about the short term fluctuations. I know I am on the right path, and must just keep plugging along.

I had a very good day food wise. I had a small honeydew before my morning walk. Lunch was a banana, plum and small apple. I sat eating nothing at a lake grill out, and later sat through a "dessert" birthday party. Dinner was a small container of red resberries. For a snack right before bed, I had another small honeydew.

Saturday, July 2, 2011

first 3 mile walk

wt 252.2

walked 65 min, 3.2 miles

The Mrs. and I had a lazy morning, at least it was for me. She made me another great smoothie, so hers may not of been so lazy. Then we drove 6 miles to a nearby trail, and walked. It was my first time to go 3 miles, and it wasn't at all hard. In fact, I am planning on doing it again tomorrow.

As for the weigh in, I wasn't surprised. I figured the salt would make me retain fluids. After our morning walk, we mowed the yard. She rode and I pushed. So that was a bit of a workout itself, especially with the heat and humidity. After that we showered, and left to visit my mom in the rehab. Then off to my nephews baseball game, then a neices birthday party, and then the grocery. We finally got home about 9:30. It was 95 degrees and very humid. we were outside most of the day, and it made for a long one.

My food for the day was my smoothie for breakfast, a big spicy dill pickle for lunch, and a few rasberries, cherries and a plum for supper, while driving home from the grocery. It had to be less than a 1400 calorie day. Once again I strayed, as my pickle wasn't raw. The label gave it twenty calories.

Friday, July 1, 2011

OOPS ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

wt. 250.2

walked 40 min, 2 miles

I had another great smoothie to start my day. Then I headed to town to walk, and it was misting, so I walked the hallways and open spaces at the office building again. I left work for an afternoon massage (started the holiday weekend early). We were going to go to a nephews championship baseball game, but it was cancelled. So we headed to a big town an hour away, where I got some new shoes to walk in. Then we met a different nephew and his girlfriend for dinner. We were going for sushi, and I was really excited. Of course, being raw, I was going to have sashimi. We got there, and found out they didn't have sashimi. So, I took one for the team, and had an unraw meal. And it was pretty good! I had a jalepeno/cream cheese apetizer of some sort. Then I had a spicy tuna roll, and a philadelphia roll. Both were very good. I am sure that the sodium in the soy sauce will cause me to retain water, and kill tomorrow's weigh in. Oh well. In the big picture, in wasn't too many calories, and life goes on. I just need to make sure I don't let it become a bad weekend. It was a fun evening.

Travel day

wt. 250.2

no walk

I got up early to travel for business. I showered, drank one of the Mrs. smoothies, and hit the road. The Mrs. was kind enough to pack me a nice cooler of fruit, along with some filbert nuts. She sure makes dieting easier. On a day like this, it would of been real easy to have had a meal in a drive thru. She didn't want that to happen. Thank you Mrs.!

I was in a convention center for lots of the day, and it was freezing cold in it. I went to the concession stand to get a water, and saw someone walk by with a brat, garnished with hot peppers. I couldn't resist. No, I didn't get a brat, but I did scarf down 5 of the hot peppers trhough the day. I know they arn't raw, but I had some anyway. If that is the worst I ever do, I am going to be skinny!

Another Day

wt 254

walked 20 min, 2 mi on treadmill

Today was a typical day of late. Morning walk, fruit smoothie for breakfast, variety of fruits and veggies for lunch, and a GREAT fruit plate for dinner. The Mrs. fixed my watermelon, cantelope, pineapple, peaches, and strawberries for supper. We got home from a hot night at a nephews ballgame, and that fruit really hit the spot. I should have a good weigh in tomorrow, as she cut my hair, and that should be good for a .001 pound loss!

WEEK ONE-- 18 LBS

wt 254.6

I didn't walk today, as I had walked 3 days in a row. If I was farther along I would have, but after just one week, I don't want to push it. Today was my one week weigh in, and it went pretty good, perhaps too good. I figured I wuld lose 10 pounds the first week, and hoped for 7 the second. So my 18.2 lbs took care of my first 2 weeks. That sounds like a lot, but it really isn't. By going mostly raw, I have eliminated tons of salt. So I expected to lose 6-8 pounds just by not retaining so much water. And how shall I say it, I expected to lose a few lbs of "bulk" from my intestines too. The last time i went mostly raw, I lost 53 lbs in 70 days. Unfortunately, I put it all back on when I went back to my old habits. I say mostly raw, because I will have some decaf tea. I will have some wasabi and soy sauce when I have raw fish. And I will put some spices(red pepper, black pepper, curry, etc.)on my melons, or in my salad dressing. So this means I am not officially 100% raw. Oh well! It's my life, my diet. so call it whatever you want. I know this isn't a diet I can be on forever. But I know I will drop weight fast when I am on it. Last time I did this, I got down to 200. And I maintain, that it doesn't matter how I get to 200. If I diet slowly, and lose one lb a week, or do this, It doesn't matter. What matters is what I do after I hit 200. Hopefully this time, When i get to 200, I will eat sensibly, not just gorge myself. Enough about that.

Todays food was typical of the last week. A smoothie for breakfast, and an assortment of fruits and veggies for lunch and supper. Tonight though, I had 2 glasses of decaf lemonade, with a half a lemon and tablespoon of honey in each glass. I also had a good sized handfull of filbert nuts. hopefully I got a few more calories in me today. I hope to not lose nearly as much this week.

Sunday, June 26, 2011

wt. 256.0

walked 52 min, 2.5 miles

Today I was going to really try to consume more calories. That is an unusual statement for someone trying to lose weight. That is one good thing about going raw. My challenge is not trying to eat less, but trying to eat enough. I think if someone only eats raw food, it is nearly impossible to not lose weight, at least for someone my size. Maybe if I weighed 120, it would be a little different. And all of my food is truly nutient dense food.
I woke up again at 4am. I immediatley ate a banana and a nice sized bowl of the tart cherries I got at the farmers market yesterday. I then watched a little tv and read, and went back to bed at 6:15. I actually slept some more, and got up at 9am. The Mrs. made me a great fruit smoothie, consisting of spinach, mango, banana, apple, orange, and blueberries. Then the Mrs, and our visiting offspring went to visit my mom, and we walked on a trail for my walk. It sure was better having company for my walk. We then came home, and I putzed outside for an hour or so. Then another offspring came, along with a new friend that we met for the first time(they passed our inspection}. Everyone sat down for dinner, and ate beef stir fry, rice, fried avocado, and mango sticky rice. Everyone but me, I had some avacodo, and another spinach salad with blueberries, and a small bowl of watermelon.
After everyone left, I had two handfulls of raw pumkin seeds, and two stalks of celery with raw almond butter, and a few mor cherries. It's 8:15 now, and I may graze a little more before going to bed. Tomorrow is my first one week weigh in. It will be a good one.

Idiot at the farmers market!

wt. 256.2

walked 42 min
weighed 2.05

I am losing weight faster than I really want to, and have been feeling very tired. I am sure quitting caffeine has contributed to the tiredness. Today I woke up at 4am, and I ate a banana and an apricot. Around 5:30, I went back to bed. Upon arising again at 7am, I went downstairs and walked on the treadmill. I strongly prefer walking outside, but today this was a little easier. After a shower,I had another banana, blueberries, and some cherries. Then I left for the office.
A visitng offspring and I stopped at the farmers market, and got some cherry tomatoes, scallions, kahlrabi, yellow tomatoes, and four citronnela plants. Then a quick stop at the health foof store to get raw honey and olive oil. The offspring and I loved the cherry tomatoes, and after an hour they were nearly gone. So alone this time, I walked back to the farmers market. I saw some great looking grape tomatoes and got those. About halfway back to the office, I gave in to my urges, and started eating them. I popped one in, and nearly broke a tooth on it. Same thing on the second one. And they tasted odd too! I turned around, and went back to the booth I had purchased them from. I waited until his booth was empty, and I held up my bag, and said "what are these that I just bought?" He looked at my like I was stupid, and said "tart cherries". I replied, "oh, well they are very good, I just thought I was getting grape tomatoes". I thanked him again, and walked away. All the other booths were out of the cherry tomatoes by then, so off I went.
Lunch was a banana, an orange, and I finally finished off the bag of cherries I had at the office. We had friends over for dinner, and while they all had filet for dinner, I nibbled on my spinach salad. I lost that one! I teied the salad dressing recipe I had read online. I put a equal parts of olive oil and fresh squeezed lemon juice in a little bowl. I added a little honey, a dried cayenne pepper, some fresh ginger, and some curry powder to it. It was kinda bland, but it at least made the spinach edible. I added blueberries and strawberries to my spinach salad which perked it up a little. Still, the filet looked much better. Our friends 8 month old boy was so fun, and seeing him for a few hours made the lack of filet more bearable.

Another day

wt. 258.6

walked 40 min, 2 miles

It was kinda misty this morning, so I just walked indoors. Our office is in a large building, and I just did laps there in the hallways ond open spaces. Not very exciting, but it was dry! I had a banana and an apricot for breakfast while driving in. You would never guess it by my diet, but I really don't like bananas. In fact, I am slightly allergic to them. I have to eat something else immediately after eating one, or my mouth itches really bad, and my throat gets irritated. But they are so easy to eat, and not messy, that they are just pefect for grabbing and going.
Lunch was the usual sliced red and yellow peppers, celery, and blueberries and cherries. I went to the chiropracter for my lower back this afternoon. It feels twisted, and my hips feel bad. He could only get me to crack on one side. He said I need to come back a few more times to get straightened out. The Mrs., my visiting offspring, and mother-in-law went to my neices play tonight. So before the play we stopped at Wendys to meet my brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. I sat in the car with my lunch leftovers, and had them for supper, while they all enjoyed Wendys. The price I pay to regain my figure! The play was ok, and of course, she was exceptional!
Upon getting home, I was really tired. So I quickly showered, and crawled to bed.

no walk

I did not walk today, as was planned. My sore foot feels a little better. I hope to walk outside tomorrow morning. There is a chance of rain, so we will see. I had a banana, an apricot, and cherries for breakfast. A banana, red and yellow pepper slices, cherries, and blueberries for lunch. I then had a pretty good apple for a afternoon snack. We stopped and visited my mom in the rehab, and stopped by and saw a few innings of a nephew's baseball game. It's 8:30 now, and I am too tired to fix anything, so I think I will just shower and go to bed. What an exciting life!

another good day

wt 265.8

walked 42 min, 2.1 miles

I had to drive the Mrs. to a dr. appointment today. So I used the waiting time for my walk. It worked out well. On the drive over, I once again had cherries, blueberries, ans a banana. Lunch was another fruit bowl from the grocery. After work, I had an apple, while visiting with the Mrs. and my mother. I was starved when I got home. I had a large plate of peaches, watermelon, cantelope, and strawberries. I also had a little red and yellow pepper. It was all good, but the peaches were the highlight. I am hoping to have a fruit smoothie wuth spinach in the morning, and a spinach salad for dinner tomorrow. I know I need to get some greens in my diet. I found a salad dressing online that I hope to try. It is 4 Tblsp of raw olive oil, 2Tblsp of lemon juice, 1/2 tsp of maple syrup, and a little salt. That is supposed to be a raw recipe, but I think the syrup kinda blows it. I could substitute raw agave for it. Also, could add cayenne pepper, or ginger zest for a little variety. I hope it tastes as good as it sounds. Healthy salad dressings have always been a problem for me.

Dinner was good, but the Mrs. grilled hamburger looked much better. As is normal for me, since I have been dieting, I have been watching lots of cooking shows . Go figure. I am not going to walk tomorrow. I have for 3 days in a row, so I am going to rest for a day. My left foot has an ache in it, and hopefully a day off will help it feel better.

So far, so good

wt. 268.4

walked 2.0 miles, 40 min

As todays title says, so far, so good. I once again got up early and drove to town to walk. While driving, I ate my breakfast of one banana, and a handful of cherries and blueberries. My walk was a little easier than yesterday. I had a morning snack of a delicious peach. It was nice and ripe, bursting with flavor and juice. A banana and cherries and blueberries were my lunch (sounds a lot like breakfast).

Dinner was a few stalks of celery, dipped in the mrs's homemade pico de giao (spelled wrong I'm sure). That was followed by a large plate of watermellon and cantelope. It was very good, and satisfying. I had a small spoon of raw organic almond butter, and it DID NOT hit the spot.

I also should mention that I had a horrible headache today, starting about 11:00 am. I am sure it was from caffeine withdrawal, as I havn't had any coffee or coke since Sunday. I took 2 tylenol, and had half a can of diet coke, and it went away. I will probably have a third of a can tomorrow, if I get another headache.

I need to get my bike cleaned up. If it was clean and ready, I think I would of had enough energy to have road it tonight. Maybe some night I will have the energy to get it ready.

STARTING OVER

wt 272.8

walked 40 min, 2 miles

I am going to once again, attempt to get serious about losing weight. Today went pretty good. I woke up, drove to town, and then walked 2 miles. It sure is handy having a shower at work! I didn't have any breakfast, as I woke up still stuffed from the weekend. I had a large cup of fruit for lunch, premade at the local grocery. It was quite tasty, and consisted of watermelon, honeydew, pineapple, grapes, cantelope, and strawberries.

Around 1:00 pm I started chilling, and felt flu like. So, for supper, I had 2 bowls of chicken soup, and some fresh strawberries and peaches. I kinda ached all night, but didn't really get sick. I went to bed at 8:30, got up at 9:30, and watched tv until midnight. Watching the the cubs thump the white sox made me feel a little better.

It was a pretty good start to a new attempt. I went back and deleted all of my old blogs, except for my first one, and for Jan 1 of this year. I kept those because they showed my weight on both those days. I deleted the others, because they had no relevance to this new attempt. They were sporadic anyway, and now they are gone.

NEW YEAR--- A NEW START

wt. 276.2

walked 40 min, 1.86 miles

OK, last year was a diet disaster. It was also a fitness disaster. While I could come of with some mighty fine excuses, that is all they would be, excuses. There is no excuse for my eating habits. I couldn't really control a lot of my injuries last year, but I could of, and should of controlled my eating. I didn't, and its over now. Today is a new day, and a new year to boot.

So I am choosing to look towards the future. My main health/fitness goal for the year, is to lose 100 lbs by next year. It is very doable, if I just stick with the plan. I still hope to someday run a marathon. Time will tell on that one. But right now I am just focusing on eating less, and walking more.
